2017 KIA NIRO : THE MOST AFFORDABLE, EXCLUSIVELY HYBRID SUV

2017 KIA NIRO : THE MOST AFFORDABLE, EXCLUSIVELY HYBRID SUV

There are a few exclusively hybrid car lineups, but no automaker has dared to develop a hybrid-only sport utility vehicle lineup… until now.

Enter the 2017 Kia Niro, Kia’s all-new compact SUV that is exclusively powered by an electric engine. We currently only have the hybrid model, but we plan to receive the PHEV plug-in version as well as an all-electric model in the near future.

Incredible Fuel Economy in the 2017 Kia Niro

That said, we are still waiting on more information about these two versions. Not to worry, however, as the current Kia Niro hybrid will more than satisfy your needs for a fuel-efficient and spacious sport utility vehicle. Starting at just $ 26,850, the 2017 Kia Niro is equipped with heated seats, a heated steering wheel, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity features, as well as a rear-view camera.

You can also opt for one of the three other versions offered in the 2017 Kia Niro lineup. Other features available in these versions include a wireless phone charger, a smart key with push-button start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power sunroof, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, leather seats, an 8-inch multimedia interface with navigation, and autonomous emergency braking.

But of course, with a model like the 2017 Kia Niro, what matters most is fuel economy. And in that regard, the new Niro doesn’t disappoint, with a posted average fuel economy rating of just 4.5 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 4.8 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway.

139 Horsepower for the 2017 Kia Niro Hybrid

The Niro’s impressive fuel economy is made possible by a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine that is combined with 1.56 kWh lithium-ion battery, for a total power output of 139 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque.

This engine provides plenty of power given the ample torque and power from the electric engine. This means that, although you get impressive fuel economy ratings, it certainly doesn’t feel like you’re driving a hybrid vehicle.
